3. After completing payment, you will receive an email receipt shortly after, confirming your child's spot in our 2025 CMC Spring Chess Tournament.

Our Policies, Terms, & Conditions

Chess'n Math Association

Chess Minds Calgary will collect additional information such as the name of school and grade level of the student to register them with the Chess'n Math Association. This association keeps track of chess players' ratings from all across Canada. Once a student from Chess Minds Calgary plays in one of our tournaments, they will automatically receive a new rating based on their tournament performance(s) and will become a ranked player for their grade level in Canada.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Registration can only be cancelled within the first 24 hours from the time the payment was received: after which, the payment is considered final and non-refundable. If a refund is requested within the 24-hour window, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refunded amount.

Personal Info/ Photo Release

Personal information provided upon registration will be collected and protected under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Collection is used to maintain records for enrollment in the Chess Minds Calgary and corresponding with registrants and their parents. Personal Information may be used or disclosed for other operational purposes that are consistent with the requirements of federal or provincial legislation. The participant’s name and photograph may appear in the Chess Minds Calgary website http://www.chessmindscalgary.ca and and all its social media web pages.

Medical Treatment Permission

If a student requires immediate medical attention, the parent/guardian listed on the emergency contact list will be contacted.  If unable to reach the parent/guardian, the student will be transported to the nearest emergency establishment.

Medical expenses incurred will be shouldered entirely by the parent/guardian.

Claim Release

Chess Minds Calgary is not liable for any personal injuries, property damage, or lost/stolen items while participating in chess activity, before or after-class, or while on the premises.

Photography & Media Consent

By enrolling in and participating in any programs, events, or activities organized by Chess Minds Calgary, you grant Chess Minds Calgary the right to take photographs and/or video recording of your child during these activities. These images and recordings may be used by Chess Minds Calgary for promotional and marketing purposes, including but not limited to posting on our website, social media platforms, and other promotional materials. By participating, you acknowledge that these images and recordings are the property of Chess Minds Calgary and may be used without any compensation to your or your child. If you wish to opt out of this consent, please contact us in writing prior to the start of the program or event.

Code of Conduct & Dismissal Policy

At Chess Minds Calgary, we are committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and enjoyable tournament environment for all participants. Players are expected to conduct themselves with good sportsmanship and to treat fellow competitors, coaches, arbiters, equipment, and the tournament facility with respect. Any behavior that is disruptive, disrespectful, or inappropriate—including but not limited to unsportsmanlike conduct, verbal or physical disrespect, or damage to equipment or property—will not be tolerated. Players who engage in such behavior, despite several warnings, will be removed from the tournament without a refund. This policy ensures that all participants can compete in a fair, comfortable, and professional environment where the integrity of the game is upheld.
